ABSTRACT: The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is a comprehensive set of digital spatial data that represents the surface water of the United States. Ongoing maintenance of the NHD is essential. The collaborative data stewardship program with State and local governments, Federal agencies, and other users of the data helps improve the NHD. Updates to the NHD are made by stewards, transmitted to the USGS, processed, and made available in the national dataset for distribution. This presentation will provide a high-level overview of the NHD and stewardship process.
